Tips On How To Soothe Tired Eyes
Nowdays, our eyes are always in demand. It’s not that people before don’t make use of their eyes, but we all know how high tech we are right now, and how often we are exposed to radiation which gives strains in our eyes. For most people right now, specially for the working group, we are always utilizing our eyes in many sense.
We could be in front of computers for many many hours each day. There are even times, we don’t give ourselves a break and this is really not good for our eyes. Like any part of the body, our eyes get tired. Some hints you should observe is if you start having headaches, your eyes turns red or itchy, and your eyes is watery. Other signs such as eye twitching is also an indication that your eyes are tired and needs to rest for some time.
In my case, I am in front of the computer, for generally about 8 hours every day for 5 days at work. After work, I still spend another couple of hours in front of the computer for my writing ventures such as blogging. These are some tips I find helpful in soothing tired eyes, which you may try as well.
1. Grab An Eye Drop – Yes! Visine is the most popular brand for this. Visine and Eye Mo. You can give your tired eyes 2-5 drops depending on the need. Eyes drops gently relieve everyday eye fatigue and itchiness due to reading, tv watching, night driving, computer usage and the like. These eye drops are formulated to soothingly blend with the natural fluids of the eyes.
2. Shut It Down – Most of the time, soothing tired eyes just involves closing down your eyes for a period of time. 1-5 minutes of rest will do wonders to your system. You can remind yourself or set your alarm while working, and close your eyes for a period of time to give rest to your hardworking body parts.
3. Know When Its Too Much – We tend to watch tv without setting time limits. There are times that we just sit in the couch and let the tv shows take us. We usually lose track of time, and before knowing it, it has been 4 hours that we’ve been in front of the television. It’s also the same with working. We might get lose in what we really are doing, and forget that we have been exposed to the computer for too long.
4. Take Eye Supplements – Eye supplements are starting to become more and more popular nowadays. Manufacturers know that these products will be in demand, as people are trying to protect themselves knowing they are increasing exposed to harmful elements which are usually man made. There are supplements such as Eyeberry and Lutein now, that allows our eyes to secrete certain chemicals, which our body cannot produce or cannot produce in an amount enough for our eyes to remain at its optimum performance.
5. Visit Your Eye Doctor – Consulting the experts is always healthy. Most specially if you are feeling that you always feel pain in your eye, or you cannot see clearly as you used it. Even if you don’t feel anything abnormal, it is wise to be careful and preventive of any serious illnesses. It is specially wise to do so, if you are way past the age of 40.
6. Never Read In The Dark – This is very much understable, but a lot of us love to do this. There are people, who try to read in the dark, or in not so lighted area, and this is not only harmful, but too tiring for your eyes. Make it easy for your eyes, and you won’t be having a hard time dealing with a head ache as well.
7. Never Read Lying – Another thing we love to do, is to read lying down. Reading could take an hour or two, or more for bookworms in one sitting, so there are times, we choose to read lying in bed. This is not good, as this is not the normal position. Do you remember, having a headache right after reading lying in bed for quiet long?
8. Grab A Cucumber – Cucumber is normally colder than the usual atmosphere. You could grab two slices after a tiring day at work, lay in your bed and place the two slices at the top of your two eyes. Your eyes will jump with joy.
9. Get A Full Night’s Sleep – If there’s a part of the body which is very happy when we sleep, it is our eyes. For the rest of the day, we are wide awake, glazing at things and even worrying a lot of tasks. Giving your eyes enough rest for the night, at least 8 hours, will make it ready to face the battle for the next day to come.
Remember, your eyes are so precious that a blind person, would do aything in exchange for your eyesight. Don’t lose it. Keep it and keep it at its best.
